location

The stone was in the field not far from the Schimmeltor , which stood north of the Stadtgottesacker at the confluence of Schimmelstraße with today's street of the victims of fascism. Its location has been overbuilt by residential buildings since the end of the 19th century.

According to Christian Keferstein, the menhir was made of sandstone , was pillar-shaped and had a height of 8 feet (approx. 2.5 m). It is said to have originally been higher and had a certain resemblance to the Stone Virgin in Halle- Dölau .
