Menhirs of Ballyloughlin

The menhirs of Ballyloughlin ( Irish Baile Uí Lochlainn ) stand on the edge of Flush Road, west of Slidderyford Bridge near the Portal Tomb of Wateresk (also called Slidderyford Dolmen) in County Down in Northern Ireland .

The larger menhir ( English standing stone ) is about 3.2 m high, 0.9 m wide and 0.8 m thick. It is embedded in a dry stone wall, behind which, less than a meter away, there is a 1.6 m high, 1.4 m wide and 0.8 m thick stone. It has been suggested that these two stones are the remains of a megalithic structure. There are references to 10 or 12 stones in a circle in the area. If it's the remains of a grave, it's likely the exedra of a court tomb . In addition to the nearby Tomb portal, there are other antiques nearby.
