Marion Muller

Marion Müller (born July 30, 1973 ) is a German sociologist .

biography

Marion Müller studied sociology , political science and cultural anthropology at Johannes Gutenberg University, Mainz , from 1995 to 2002 . Her diploma thesis was recognized as the best thesis by the German Society for Sociology (DGS) in 2002. Until 2002 she worked as a freelance news editor at Hessischer Rundfunk . Until 2004 she was a research assistant at the Institute for Sociology at the University of Mainz and from 2004 to 2012 at the Faculty of Sociology at the University of Bielefeld , where she received her doctorate in 2008. The dissertation on the importance of ethnic, national and gender differences in professional football received the dissertation award of the German Society for Sociology (DGS) in 2010 as well as the award as the best dissertation from the Faculty of Sociology. From 2013 to 2016 she was junior professor for sociology (with a focus on the sociology of culture and knowledge) at the University of Trier . Since 2016 she has been professor of sociology at the Eberhard Karls University of Tübingen .

In 2014 she received the Fritz Thyssen Foundation award for the best German-language social science essay of the year.
