The menhirs of Ginestous (1 to 8) stand / lie east of Moulès-et-Baucels in the Hérault department in France .

  • Menhir 1 is an almond-shaped menhir about 3.0 meters high, which is up to 2.0 meters wide in the middle, but only 30 cm thick. The flat broadside faces south. It is considered to be one of the perfectly shaped small menhirs.
  • Menhir 2 is columnar, about 1.8 m long, and is 50 north of menhir 1.
  • Menhir 3 is about 2.7 meters high and rectangular. The tip crumbled, maybe it was bigger.
  • The Ginestous dolmen is 40 meters south of Menhir 3. It is badly damaged. At first glance it appears to be a menhir, but it is the remains of a chamber that today is nothing more than a recess in acairn. At the eastern end there is a large slab of about 2.0 × 2.0 m, which is either the end stone of the chamber or the relocated capstone thatcovereda chamber made ofdry masonry.
  • Menhir 4 is about 2.0 meters long. It lies broken near menhir 3
  • Menhir 5 fell over and broke into several pieces. It was a large menhir, tapered in shape and more than two feet long and about eight feet wide at the base. It is located about 40 meters west of the dolmen, and 50 meters southwest of menhir 3.
  • Menhir 6 is about 1.3 m high and was moved to the palace garden.
  • Menhir 7 is a stump about one meter high, on the edge of a small road that leads to the castle.
  • The fallen menhir 8 lies on the slope, about 600 meters north of the menhir complex.
