The MenschenRechtsMagazin ( MRM ), which appears twice a year, is a scientific, German-language magazine on the subject of human rights . It would like to contribute to informing parliamentarians, authorities, courts and lawyers as well as the interested public about possibilities and developments of the international human rights protection. For this purpose, individual legal protection procedures are presented, judgments and monitoring activities are evaluated and basic information is conveyed.

Editor and editor

MenschenRechtsMagazin is published at the University of Potsdam (MRZ). The editors are the directors of the MRZ, Andreas Zimmermann and Logi Gunnarsson as well as the former director of the MRZ Eckart Klein .

The editor in charge has been Norman Weiß since 1996 ; Co-editors are Lutz Römer and Nina Kapaun.

The MenschenRechtsMagazin publishes articles from the fields of international law , philosophy , history and political science . One thematic focus is the protection of human rights in the United Nations system . A series of articles during the 1990s presented the possibilities and requirements of individual legal protection. In addition, regular reports are provided on the work of the Human Rights Committee under the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (Civil Covenant).

The special issues had the following titles:

  • 50 years of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (1997)
  • 50 years of the European Convention on Human Rights (2000)
  • 25 Years of International Human Rights Covenants (2002)

Ten years later, a complete table of contents was published which systematically made the contents of all booklets accessible.
