The Human Rights Archive of Chile ( Spanish Archivo de Derechos Humanos de Chile ) documented the violations of human rights in Chile during the military dictatorship under Augusto Pinochet between 1973 and 1989. His goal is to make the memory of the victims of arrests, executions , disappearances and torture and to maintain resistance against dictatorship. The archive has been part of the UNESCO World Document Heritage since 2003 .

The archive was brought together from the collections of several non-governmental organizations : the member self-organization Agrupación de Familiares de Detenidos Desaparecidos (AFDD), the church foundations Fundación de Ayuda Social de las Iglesias Cristianas (FASIC) and Fundación de Documentación y Archivos de la Vicaría de la Solidaridad Teleanálisis , the children's rights organization Fundación de Protección a la Infancia Dañada por los Estados de Emergencia (PIDEE), the Comisión Chilena de Derechos Humanos (CCHDH), the Corporación de Promoción y Defensa de los Derechos del Pueblo (CODEPU) and the Justicia y Corporación .

Documents from the archives of these organizations served as crucial evidence in solving the crimes of the military dictatorship in numerous court and compensation proceedings. They play a central role in coming to terms with the time of the military dictatorship, which has not yet come to an end.

The human rights archive of Chile is kept in the Museo de la Memoria y los Derechos Humanos ( Museum of Remembrance and Human Rights ) in Santiago de Chile . It forms a significant part of the museum's collection dedicated to the memory of the victims of the military dictatorship. The museum's documentation center enables access to the digitized texts and images as well as sound and film recordings from the museum collection. It offers a supplementary library and workstations for research.
