List of apple varieties

Meraner is an apple variety that was discovered in 1976 in Marling in the South Tyrolean Adige Valley as a chance seedling .

The Merano apple is a winter apple with a medium-sized and somewhat angular fruit. The skin color is yellow, half of the skin is reddened and slightly streaked when it ripens. The flesh is firm and juicy with sugar and acid content. It is ready to be picked at the beginning of October and it is ready for consumption from mid-October. The shelf life extends over five months until mid-March.

The fruits are not very susceptible to storage damage. The Merano apple is a good pollen donor when it blooms. The distribution is currently limited to South Tyrol.
