Mercedes-Benz O 305 OE

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Mercedes-Benz O 305 OE was a hybrid bus built in 20 copies based on the Mercedes-Benz O 305 . It was manufactured from 1979 to 1981 and was used in regular service by two local transport companies from 1979 to 1985 . Among them were 13 copies on the Stuttgart trams (SSB) on line 70 from Plieningen via Degerloch to Hoffeld and seven copies in Wesel .

The bus was powered by an electric motor, which got its energy from a battery mounted on the roof of the vehicle . This was fed by the recovery of braking energy , a diesel engine and a charging station from the power grid. The project was funded by the Federal Ministry for Research and Technology (BMFT) as well as the states of Baden-Württemberg and North Rhine-Westphalia .

After the funding expired, the hybrid technology was no longer developed by Mercedes-Benz .
