Merchant (cherry)

Merchant is a dark variety of sweet cherries belonging to the heart cherries .

origin

The variety was the John Innes Institute in Norwich from the variety Merton Glory with unknown partners crossed out .

fruit

The fruit is medium to large and kidney-shaped. The soft skin is half ripe dark red and black when fully ripe. The soft flesh is sweet and aromatic and fruity. It has a medium burst resistance and ripens in the 3rd to 4th cherry week .

tree

The growth is medium strong and spreading with good branching. The variety is self-sterile and needs a fertilization partner. Burlat and lapins are suitable . It blooms early. The onset of earnings is early, regular and high; but it tends to overhang now and then. This can result in smaller fruits.
