Mervyn Wall

Mervyn Wall (* 1908 in Dublin ; † 1997 ibid) was an Irish writer.

Life

Wall studied at Belvedere College ( University College Dublin ) and later also at the University of Bonn . After successfully completing his studies, he worked for the Irish Civil Service between 1934 and 1948 . In 1948 Wall switched to Radio Ireland (RTÉ) and stayed there until 1957.

Between 1957 and 1975, Wall was executive director of the Arts Council in Dublin. For many years he wrote regular columns for the features section of The Evening Press . He was a member of the Irish national artists' association Aosdána . His novel Leaves for the burning was voted Best European Novel of the Year in 1952.

Wall was married to the music and theater critic Frances Feehan.
