Mesarthim ("The first star of Aries") is the name of the star γ Arietis (Gamma Arietis). Mesarthim is a double star that can be separated even in small telescopes with an angular distance of 7.7 arc seconds (position angle: 0 degrees). Both components are of the spectral type A0 V and have an apparent magnitude of +4.75 mag. Mesarthim is about 204 light years from Earth (Hipparcos database).
