Mesechenet (formerly: Meschenet ) is an ancient Egyptian goddess of birth and death .

meaning

As the goddess of birth, she not only monitors the birth of a child, but also determines its fate . As the goddess of the dead, she helps the gods Shai and Renenutet to rebirth, which is why she is also represented at the judgment of the dead . As a birth tile, she always appears in fusion with one of the birth goddesses:

  • Mesechenet-weret: Tefnut as the first birth brick
  • Mesechenet-aachet: groove as the second birth tile
  • Mesechenet-neferet: Isis as the third birth brick
  • Mesechenet-menchet: Nephthys as the fourth birth brick

presentation

She is shown as a woman with the uterus of a cow on her head, but mostly as a brick (birth brick) with a female head on the forehead.
