Meshack Asare
Meshack Asare (born September 18, 1945 ) is a children's author, born in Nyankumasi, Ghana . He now has his center of life in London .
Life
Meshack Asare studied art at the College of Art in Kumasi , the capital of the Ashanti region . After graduating, he decided to work as a teacher in Ghana (1967–1979). During his time as a teacher he began to write children's books and made his first experiences with the illustration of children's books. His works from this period include the translated into many languages and by UNESCO with the title Best picture book from Africa winning work Tawai Goes to Sea .
After a ten-year period without publications, Asare drew attention again in 1981 with his work The Brassman's Secret . This book has also been translated into many languages and even won the 1982 Noma Prize for African Literature .
