Mesut Ünal (born April 3, 1973 in Istanbul ) is a former Turkish football player. He has been working as a trainer since 2009. His son is the football player Enes Ünal .

Career

Mesut Ünal spent most of his time playing at Bursaspor . At the club he began his career in the second team in 1994; a year later he played a game in the U-21 national team . In 1998 Bursaspor took him to the first team. In 1999 he played temporarily at Sakaryaspor , but returned in 2000 to Bursaspor. In 2001 Ünal was signed by Altay Izmir . He stayed there until 2005, when he returned to Sakaryaspor (2005) and Bursaspor (2006) for one season. Oyak Renault hired him in January 2007 and Balikesirspor in July of that year . The club was his last position as a player, he was part of it until October 2008.

Ünal has the A license as a trainer. His first coaching position was in 2009 at Elazigspor . In 2010 he moved to Sakaryaspor and in 2014 to Bursaspor.
