The Metallurg Stadium is a football stadium in the Russian city of Samara . It offers space for almost 33,000 spectators and served as a home for the Samara-based association Krylja Sowetow Samara .

history

The Metallurg Stadium in Samara was built in 1957 and inaugurated on August 10, 1957. The first opponent in a competitive game was CSKA Klon in 1959, when 10,000 spectators had streamed into the Metallurg Stadium to see Samara's 3-4 defeat.

Today there are 33,001 spectators in the Metallurg Stadium. These are divided into the west stand with 11,741 seats, the east stand with 12,384 seats, the north stand with 8,876 seats and 3,402 seats for the guest fans. The stadium has 20 handicapped accessible spaces for wheelchair users, 34 spaces for journalists, as well as a box for prominent guests above the north stand. There has also been underfloor heating since 1997 . In the area of ​​the Metallurg Stadium there are also some training areas that are also used by the second team of Krylja Sowetow Samara. The stadium also has a volleyball court, a basketball court, two tennis courts and a number of other activities.

Samara was one of the venues for the 2018 World Cup . A new football stadium, the Kosmos Arena with around 45,000 seats, was built for the tournament . After completion, Krylja Sowetow Samara moved to the new stadium.
