Metals is the fourth studio album by Canadian singer and songwriter Leslie Feist . The follow-up production to the 2007 album The Reminder was released on October 3, 2011 by Polydor . Metals reached number 7 on the US Billboard 200 charts, which was the artist's highest album placement to date. Metals rose to number 6 in the German album hit lists, while Canada achieved the highest international list position at number 2.

The title of the album was written by Leslie Feist. In addition to Feist, the musicians Chilly Gonzales , Mocky and Valgeir Sigurðsson are responsible for the production. The first two mentioned are also musically represented on some pieces.

After the previous album The Reminder , Leslie Feist took a creative break and only recorded new studio material with Metals four years later. About the course of production compared to her previous experience, Feist explained that she deliberately allowed more mistakes when recording Metals in order to encourage spontaneity.

The album's first single was How Come You Never Go Ever in August 2011 .

The melancholy yet lively simplicity of the pieces was emphasized as a defining characteristic of the production. Compared to the artist's first three albums, a significantly more disturbing mood was noticed. The Rolling Stone magazine stated that the listening experience of Metals less catchy than usual Feist, it nevertheless would be their best album.

The criticism platform Metacritic has a for Metals Metascore out of 81 of a possible 100 points. In the rating by users, the album achieved 8.7 out of 10 points.
