Metodi Lepavzov

Metodi Lepavzov , stage name Lemeto , (born May 12, 1905 in Prilep , Macedonia , † May 24, 1983 in Neuchâtel , Switzerland ) was a Yugoslav artist.

life and work

Lepavzov studied at the art academies in Munich, Prague and Italy. Metodi Lepavzov was in political imprisonment in Zabela in Pozarevac, Serbia , for two years in solitary confinement for a defining five years (1927–1933) . He later said that these years had influenced his work and art more than any art academy. Metodi Lepavzov understood art as a universal language and the basis of every culture.

His works have been exhibited in cities such as Sofia, Warsaw, Belgrade, Zagreb, Prague, Rome, Munich, Berlin, Brussels, Bern, Geneva and Chicago. In 1957 he moved with his family to Neuchatel (Neuchâtel), Switzerland, which he illustrated in several watercolors and where he died on May 24, 1983.
