The metro station Chennai International Airport ( Tamil : சென்னை விமான நிலையம் ) is an above-ground subway station of Chennai Metro . It is the terminus of the Blue Line .

The Chennai International Airport metro station serves Chennai Airport . It is designed as a high station and is located opposite the airport building on the Grand Southern Trunk Road . The metro station is about 500 meters from the international and domestic terminals of the airport. In the immediate vicinity on the other side of the Grand Southern Trunk Road is the Tirusulam train station , which is served by the Chennaier suburban railway.

The Chennai International Airport station opened on September 21, 2016 as part of the first section of the Blue Line. After the opening of the metro connection, the transition to the airport was difficult for passengers, as there was no direct access from the terminals to the metro station. Instead, a shuttle service with electric vehicles was set up. In March 2018, a skyway with a moving walkway was opened that connects the metro station directly with the terminals.
