Two busway lines are operated in the French city ​​of Metz under the name Mettis [ ˌmeˈtis ] . The project, which cost around 230 million euros, went into operation on October 5, 2013.

Systra was responsible for the design of the project .

The lines

The two busway lines A and B run a total of 17.8 kilometers in the municipalities of Woippy and Metz. The buses have their own lanes ; they have priority at the intersections. Signaling is used as is the case with tram circuits. Both lines have a common trunk route of 5.4 km in the inner city area with ten common stops.

Line A connects the Woippy and Actipôle de Borny stops . It is 12.5 km long and has 26 stops at it. Line B has an 11 km route with 21 stops and connects Saulcy with CHR de Mercy . Overall, there are three P + R - parking .

The vehicles

Bus on line B (2013)

The Belgian commercial vehicle manufacturer Van Hool has by tendering against Hess enforced and ATPS and 23.8 m long diesel hybrid - buses of the type ExquiCity 24 supplied with room for 150 passengers. 27 vehicles were ordered with an option for 9 additional vehicles. The price of a vehicle is 850,000 euros.

The depot

In April 2013, a new depot was opened on an 8-hectare site in the north of Metz and near Line A , where the other vehicles of the operating company are also serviced. The previous depot will be given up.

The rest of the bus network

The rest of the bus network in both cities has been restructured. It also changed its name: Transports en commun de la région messine (TCRM) became Le Met ' .
