Woippy (German: Wappingen, Lorraine Weppech ) is a French commune with 14,214 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Moselle department in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Lorraine ). The inhabitants call themselves Woippyciens .

From 1915 to 1918 and from 1940 to 1944 it had the German name Wappingen .
