Saint-Hubert (German Sankt Hubert ) is a French commune with 233 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Moselle department in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Lorraine ). It belongs to the arrondissement of Metz .

geography

Saint-Hubert is located about five kilometers east of the Moselle between Metz and Thionville at an average altitude of 217 m. The municipal area covers 15.73 km².

history

The village was founded in 1602 in the forest of the Cistercian monastery Villers-Bettnach . The monastery itself, founded in 1135, is a few kilometers northeast and was abandoned after its destruction during the French Revolution in 1792.

Economy and Infrastructure

The place is mainly agricultural. Saint-Hubert is accessed by a few side streets, the next main road (D3, Rue de Metz) is about two kilometers away as the crow flies. A branch line runs past the village and ends at the train station in Vigy .
