Les Étangs (German Tennschen , 1940-44 Teckenhof ) is a French commune with 401 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Moselle department in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Lorraine ). It belongs to the arrondissement of Metz .

geography

The village is located east of Metz on the French river Nied at an altitude between 207 and 304 m above sea level. The municipality covers 6.05 km².

history

The foundations of the castle go back to the year 1401. It was then repeatedly the target of looting and was burned down in 1490 and 1552. From 1679 to 1858 it was owned by the Blair de Balthayock family. This immigrated from Scotland in 1674 .
