Saint-Jure is a French commune with 295 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Moselle department in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Lorraine ). It belongs to the arrondissement of Metz .

geography

Saint-Jure is located southeast of Metz at an altitude between 207 and 261 m above sea level, the mean height is 230 m. The municipality covers 10.61 km².

The hamlets of Alémont (a little northeast) and Ressaincourt (a little southeast) have belonged to the municipality of Saint-Jure since 1813 .

history

The village was first mentioned as Saint Jeure in 1310 .

In the years 1915 to 1918 and 1940 to 1944, Saint-Jure was given the German name of Sankt Jürgen .
