Chérisey is a French commune with 305 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Moselle department in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Lorraine ). It belongs to the arrondissement of Metz .

geography

Chérisey is located about 15 kilometers south of Metz , near the Metz-Nancy-Lorraine airport at an altitude of between 203 and 258 m above sea level. The municipal area covers 5.07 km².

history

The village was first mentioned as Carisiacum in the 9th century .

1915–1918 and 1940–1944 it bore the Germanized name Schersingen .
