Liéhon is a French commune with 114 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Moselle department in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Lorraine ). It belongs to the arrondissement of Metz .

geography

Liéhon is located southeast of Metz at an altitude between 214 and 291 meters above sea level, the mean height is 260 meters. The municipality covers 5.38 km².

history

During the expansion of the Metz-Nancy-Lorraine airport in 2003, a villa from the 1st century was found that was inhabited until the 4th century. Various gold artifacts have also been discovered in the villa .

As a French-speaking town, Liéhon was one of the last 247 communities whose name was Germanized on September 2, 1915 during the First World War (1914-1918). The name was changed to "Lieheim" and was the official place name until 1918.
