Jouy-aux-Arches is a French commune with 1,472 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Moselle department in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Lorraine ). It belongs to the arrondissement of Metz .

Jouy-aux-Arches is eight kilometers southwest of the city center of Metz on the right bank of the Moselle .
history
Jouy-aux-Arches was first mentioned in 745 as Gaudiacum .
1915–1918 and 1940–1944 it bore the Germanized name Gaudach .

Culture and sights
A Roman aqueduct towers over the houses in the village, cuts through it and ends just before the banks of the Moselle.
