Luppy is a French commune with 570 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Moselle department in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Lorraine ). It belongs to the arrondissement of Metz .

geography

Luppy is halfway between Metz and Château-Salins , about five kilometers east of Metz-Nancy-Lorraine Airport .

history

The village goes back to Gallo-Roman times and was probably called Luppiacum at that time . The wood of the roof structure in Metz Cathedral comes from the forests around Luppy.

1915-1918 and 1940-1944 the place had the Germanized name Luppingen .
