Sainte-Barbe is a French commune with 745 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Moselle department in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Lorraine ). It belongs to the arrondissement of Metz and the canton of Le Pays messin (until 2015: canton of Vigy ).

Sainte-Barbe is located about 14 km northeast of Metz at an altitude between 225 and 318 m above sea level. The municipality covers 13.84 km².

history

The site was fought over in the Battle of Noisseville during the Franco-Prussian War in 1870 .

In the years 1915-1918 and 1940-1944 he carried the German name Sankt Barbara .
