Beux is a French commune with 274 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Moselle department in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Lorraine ). It belongs to the arrondissement of Metz .

geography

The municipality of Beux is located about 15 kilometers southeast of Metz at an altitude between 223 and 315 m above sea level. The municipality covers 5.03 km². The small village consists of Beux (formerly also Beux-Basse) and the hamlet of Beux-Haute to the northwest.

history

The place was mentioned in 1277 as Bu . The two districts carried the Germanized names Niederbö and Oberbö from 1915 to 1918 and 1940 to 1944 , Niederbö being the official name of the entire municipality.
