Vigny is a French commune with 366 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Moselle department in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Lorraine ). It belongs to the arrondissement of Metz .

geography

Vigny is located southeast of Metz at an altitude between 244 and 297 m above sea level. The municipality covers 5.83 km². The north of the municipality is part of the Metz-Nancy-Lorraine airport .

history

The village bore the Germanized name Wingert from 1915 to 1918 and 1940 to 1944 .

The neo-Romanesque church of Saint-Germain dates from 1863.
