Thimonville is a French commune with 155 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Moselle department in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Lorraine ). It belongs to the arrondissement of Metz .

Thimonville is located southeast of Metz at an altitude between 228 and 291 m above sea level, the mean height is 260 m. The municipality covers 7.4 km².

history

The village was first mentioned in 1250, there are the remains of a castle that was destroyed in 1349.

From 1915 to 1918 the place had the Germanized name Thimmenheim , from 1940 to 1944 Timmweiler .
