Mey is a French commune with 267 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Moselle department in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Lorraine ). It belongs to the arrondissement of Metz and the canton of Le Pays messin (until 2015: canton of Montigny-lès-Metz ).

Mey is located five kilometers northeast of downtown Metz at an altitude of between 179 and 250 m above sea level. The municipality covers 1.91 km². From the Autoroute A4 (Paris – Strasbourg), the Autoroute A315 branches off in Mey to Metz and the Metzer southeast bypass.

history

The place was first mentioned in 962 as Maiacum .

1915-1918 and 1940-1944 he carried the Germanized name Maien .
