Villers-Stoncourt is a French commune with 222 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Moselle department in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Lorraine ). It belongs to the arrondissement of Metz .

geography

Villers-Stoncourt is located east of Metz at an altitude between 224 and 328 m above sea level. The municipality covers 10.57 km².

history

The village was first mentioned in 977 and consists of the districts Viller, Stoncourt, la Houtte and Aoury a few kilometers to the east. The history of the church on Mont Saint-Pierre is linked to that of the Saint-Pierre-aux-Nonnains Abbey in Metz.

From 1915 to 1918 and from 1940 to 1944 it bore the Germanized name of Stondorf .
