Mexican Institute of Sound ( MIS , Spanish : Instituto Mexicano del Sonido ) is a music project by the two Mexican DJs Camilo Lara and Francisco Vazquez. The music style moves between electro and Latin American music .

history

Camilo Lara, originally from Mexico City , started the music project in 2006 after he had previously helped found the music label Suave Records and worked as a DJ for music groups such as Placebo and Le Hammond Inferno .

In the debut album, some Latin American music styles were combined, including norteña and cumbia . The specific sound results from the pairing with electro music .

After two more albums in 2007 and 2009, the Mexican Institute of Sound released the album Político in 2012 . Lara explained that the album was created under the impression that the police found a large load of explosives in his neighborhood in Mexico City and that he became aware of the situation the city was in.

Together with Toy Selectah , a fifth studio album was released in 2016 with Compass .

The sixth studio album Disco Popular was released on November 10, 2017 .
