Miasto Jest Nasze (Polish for: The city belongs to us , short name: MJN ) is an independent, civil society platform that was launched in Warsaw in 2013 and registered as a registered association in 2014. In the self-government elections in Poland in 2018 , she won a total of 22 seats in various Warsaw district councils.

The citizens' movement emerged as a reaction to the policies of the Warsaw city administration. MJN deals with topics such as the quality of local public transport , nature conservation and air pollution , urban planning , reprivatisation of real estate, monument protection , participation , sustainable development , gentrification and social exclusion.

One of the first activities of MJN was to participate in the campaign for a high turnout in the ultimately unsuccessful referendum on the dismissal of Mayor Hanna Gronkiewicz-Waltz as well as participation in protests against the closure of the Femina cinema. The movement gained notoriety throughout Poland after drawing the general public's attention to the deficiencies in the reprivatisation of state land and real estate by the Warsaw city council. In addition to the so-called Warsaw reprivatisation affair, MJN was successful in the media and a. to highlight the problem of poor air quality and smog. Miasto Jest Nasze currently has 140 members. The movement is led by a seven-member board, headed by Jan Mencwel since 2017. It is active in 10 of Warsaw's 18 districts.

In the self-government elections in Poland in 2014 , MJN won a total of 7 seats in three district councils. In the 2018 self-government elections, the MJN-led coalition of various local organizations managed to win a total of 22 seats in 7 districts. Coalition representatives were appointed deputy mayors in three districts ( Ochota , Wawer , , oliborz ). Justyna Glusman , the coalition's candidate for the office of city president, took over the position of coordinator for sustainable development and urban green in Warsaw's City Hall after the election.

MJN is part of the global network "Fearless Cities". Their international partners include a. Barcelona en Comú , Praha sobě and Spasi Sofia .
