Michaël Fœssel  (born October 24, 1974 in Thionville , Moselle department ) is a French philosopher . 

biography

Michaël Fœssel studied from 1995 at the École normal supérieure Lettres et sciences humaines . Two years later he received the  Agrégation for Philosophy and in 2002 wrote his thesis L'équivoque du monde  on Immanuel Kant at the  University of Rouen . After teaching at the University of Burgundy and at the  Institut Catholique de Paris , he became professor of philosophy at the École polytechnique in 2013  , where he succeeded  Alain Finkielkraut  . Michael Fœssel also became part of the editorial board of Esprit magazine  and, together with Jean-Claude Monod, has been head of the l'Ordre philosophique series of  the Éditions du Seuil publishing house  since 2014 .

His work deals with the importance and risks of democratic experience and cosmopolitanism , from a Kantian perspective.
