Michał Wesołowski (pianist)
Michał Wesołowski (* 1936 in Warsaw ) is a Polish pianist and music teacher.
Wesołowski studied at the Warsaw Conservatory and continued his education in Paris as a scholarship holder of the French government. After his return to Warsaw he gave concerts in Poland and abroad as a member of the group Musica Nova di Varsovia . After being made impossible to work in Poland in 1968 because of the signing of a letter of protest against the persecution of oppositional academics, he emigrated to Sweden in 1972.
From there he resumed his international concert activities, acted as a juror at piano competitions and gave lectures at the University of California and Nagoya University , among others . From 1982 he taught at the music school in Malmö, in 2000 he became professor of piano at Lund University . He worked with composers such as Siegfried Naumann , Jóhann Jóhannsson and Per Nørgård and was awarded a Diapason d'Or for his recordings .
