Michael B. Klein

Michael B. Klein (* 1970 in USA ; † December 24, 2007 in Panama ) was an American entrepreneur and hedge fund manager.

Career

Klein trained as a Juris Doctor and Master of Business Administration . He has been the owner and CEO of Pacificor LLC in Santa Barbara, California , since 2002 , which manages several hedge funds. He was best known in 2000 when he sold the Internet communications company, eGroups, Inc. , which he ran, to Yahoo for $ 450 million, now known as Yahoo! Groups is known. Klein started working in business at the age of 17. He founded and ran MIBEK Corporation , which he sold in 1992. He then founded Transoft Networks, a leading provider of storage area networking software , which was acquired by Hewlett-Packard in May 1999.

Plane crash

Klein was found dead by rescue workers on December 26, 2007, two days after a small plane crashed. His 13-year-old daughter and the pilot were killed with him; a friend of the daughter's was the only survivor. The group originally set out on a sightseeing flight from Klein's private island in Panama, and the weather was bad at the time of the accident.
