Michael Barry Wolf

Michael Barry Wolf (* 1954 in New Jersey ) is an American double bass player .

Life

Michael Wolf was born in New Jersey, USA in 1954. He was a professor of double bass at the Berlin University of the Arts . He started playing the double bass at the age of nine. He made his first solo appearance on television when he was 13. He received his undergraduate degree with honors in biology from the University of Southern California and worked in cancer research. There are three scientific publications from this period. He then studied music at California State University with Professor Nathaniel Gangursky and became a member of the San Diego Symphony Orchestra . He came to Germany as part of a scholarship from Fulbright / DAAD and Rotary International . Before his appointment to Berlin he was professor for double bass at the Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz . He is internationally known for radio and vinyl recordings, concerts and masterclasses. His most important publication as a double bass teacher is a modern double bass method.
