Michael Bleyenberg (born July 21, 1961 in Höxter ) is a German hologram artist.

Life

Michael Bleyenberg studied painting at the Art Academy in Düsseldorf / Münster and at the University of Fine Arts in Braunschweig . Today he works almost exclusively with the medium of light using lasers and computers. As early as 1993 he won the holographic art prize endowed with DM 5000 for his work Rooms to Share . Bleyenberg describes the medium of light as an artistic possibility to combine the “field forces” of light and space and to make them usable for architecture. He focuses on holographic applications such as light facades or light sculptures, which he integrates into an architectural space.

In 2000 he designed a five by thirteen meter wall of light on the west facade in the inner courtyard of the extension building for the German Research Foundation in Bonn. The hologram with the title Augenfeuer is the largest in Europe and was honored with the “IHMA Award” of the International Hologram Manufacturers Association in 2001 for excellent holographic work. His artwork Three Prisms has been in London since 2006 . For the Archdiocese of Cologne he designed a holographic cross with the title Spero Lucem that was shown in several churches of the diocese.

In 2012, in the exhibition The Jeweled Net: Views of Contemporary Holography in the Museum of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in Cambridge , Bleyenberg showed a multicolored hologram entitled Insights , which was designed for Carl Zeiss AG. Bleyenberg works mainly as a freelance artist who exhibits his works internationally.
