Michael Coutts (born November 23, 1985 in Gisborne ) is a New Zealand skeleton pilot .

Michael Coutts from Gisborne started playing skeleton in 2006 and has been part of his country's national team ever since. He studied at the University of Otago and worked as an assistant to the management of a shop. His coaches are Russ Ward (track) and Angus Ross (sprint and endurance). He made his international debut in 2006 as part of the Skeleton America's Cup . In his first race in Calgary , the New Zealander finished 25th. Up until January 2008, further missions followed only sporadically. Since then, Coutts has switched repeatedly between the various America's Cup and Skeleton Intercontinental Cup racing series . The best result was a 15th place in the IC Cup in Lake Placid . At the Junior World Championships in Igls in 2008 he was 15th. After several appearances in the IC Cup in the 2008/09 season, Coutts started the Skeleton World Cup in January 2009 at Königssee for the first time and was 25th there. Only a little later he was in the same position Ninth in the Junior World Championship. In the following years, Coutts continued to play mainly in the America's Cup and the Intercontinental Cup, but rarely achieved single-digit results in both racing series. His goal, to participate in the 2010 Olympic Winter Games of Vancouver missed the New Zealander. He then revised his plan to end his career and continues it. In Calgary he was able to achieve a new personal best in the second race of the 2010/11 World Cup season by finishing 19th.
