Michael Dörfel

Michael Dörfel (born September 17, 1954 ) was a football player in East Berlin . For 1. FC Union Berlin , he played briefly in the GDR Oberliga , the top division of the GDR Football Association .

Athletic career

At the age of six Dörfel was accepted into the children's team of the East Berlin company sports association (BSG) Turbine Wasserwerke. He played there until he was ten years old and was then taken over in 1965 by the youth department of TSC Berlin, which was restructured into 1. FC Union Berlin in 1966.

In 1973 he was used for the first time in a competitive game of the first men's team. In the league match Union Berlin - BFC Dynamo (0: 2) on April 14th, he was substituted on in the 67th minute for left winger Günter Klausch . Mainly Dörfel was used however in the district league team Union II. The first team rose after the 1972/73 season in the GDR league. Dörfel was deployed there twice, then in November 1972 he was drafted into the army for 18 months. During this time he was able to continue playing football with the Army Sports Association Vorwärts Cottbus . From May 1975 he played again for the district league team Union II, with which he completed the 1974/75 season as district champion. Then he was used in three games of the first team in the promotion round to the league, in the Union only reached the last place and had to remain in the GDR league. 1975/76 Dörfel only played in the district league, after which again in two promotion games of the first team, which this time was second and could return to the league. For the new league season 1976/77 Dörfel was not provided by coach Heinz Werner , instead played with the youth team in the junior league.

After the end of the 1976/77 season he was delegated by 1. FC Union and played for the East Berlin district division SG Hohenschönhausen until 1978 . From 1978 to 1982 was active in the East Berlin district league for the BSG Motor Köpenick .
