Leslie Frazier Antonio (* 3. April 1959 in Columbus , Mississippi ) is an American American football trainer. Since 2017 he has been the Defensive Coordinator of the Buffalo Bills in the National Football League (NFL). Before that, he was the head coach of the Minnesota Vikings for three years . Before his coaching career, he played four years as a cornerback for the Chicago Bears .

Career

Frazier began his career in 1981 with the Bears. He played five seasons as a cornerback and less often as a safety . The highlight of his playing career was victory in Super Bowl XX . During this final he suffered a serious knee injury that forced him to retire.

Trainer

In 1988 he took over the college team at Trinity International University . He formed the team as head coach for nine seasons. In 1996 he left Trinity University for Illinois . At the University of Illinois he worked for two years as a defensive back coach .

Andy Reid brought Leslie Frazier to the Philadelphia Eagles in 1999 as a defensive backs coach . Already in Philadelphia he worked with the future head coach of the Vikings, Brad Childress . In 2003 he moved to the Cincinnati Bengals . He took over the coordination of the defensive line for one season , which was the third strongest defense of the season with 36 ball conquests . In 2005 he stayed for a year with the Indianapolis Colts , where he was again responsible for the defensive backs.

Frazier joined the Minnesota Vikings in 2007 under the direction of Brad Childress . He took over the position of defensive coordinator after his predecessor Mike Tomlin was hired by the Pittsburgh Steelers as head coach. In 2009 he extended his contract for a further year and Childress nominated him as an assistant head coach .

After Brad Childress was released, he temporarily took over the post of head coach at the Vikings. After the 2013 season with only five wins, ten losses and one draw, Frazier was sacked by the Minnesota Vikings in January 2014. A few days later, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers signed Frazier as a defensive coordinator.
