Career

Before joining the Minnesota Vikings, he mainly coached various parts of the offense and worked as an offensive coordinator on various college and NFL teams. He was best known for his work for the Eagles. His path led him to the following teams:

Minnesota Vikings

On January 6, 2006, he was officially named the new Head Coach of the Minnesota Vikings. After the appointment, Vikings owner Zygi Wilf was heavily criticized, as Childress was assumed to be insufficiently qualified. Previously, Wilf declined to hire a human resources manager to leave him the obligation of a coach.

The first two seasons were sobering, with a 6:10 record in the first season and an 8:8 record in the second season, the play-offs were missed. Childress did better in the 2008 season and finished with a 10: 6 balance. However, he had to admit defeat there against his former employer, the Philadelphia Eagles. In November 2009 it was announced that his contract had been extended to 2013. The Vikings finished the season with 12-4 wins and once again reached the play-offs. With a win against the Dallas Cowboys , they even managed to get into the NFC Championship Game . There they failed, however, because of the later Super Bowl winners, the New Orleans Saints .

On November 22, 2010, Childress was fired from the Vikings. Before that, the Vikings had a bad start into the season with a record of three wins and seven defeats. He has been with the Kansas City Chiefs since 2013 , where he has been the Offensive Coordinator since 2016.
