Michael Dawin

Michael Dawin (born August 20, 1942 in Wuppertal ) is a German lawyer . Until August 2007 he was a judge at the Federal Administrative Court .

From 1953 to 1961 Dawin attended the old-language Wilhelm-Dörpfeld-Gymnasium in Wuppertal. He then studied law at the Universities of Mainz and Saarbrücken . After passing the second state examination in law, his legal career began in 1970 in the judicial service of the state of Rhineland-Palatinate, where he was assigned as a research assistant to the Higher Administrative Court of Rhineland-Palatinate . From 1971 Dawin worked as a court assessor at the Koblenz Administrative Court . In 1973 he was appointed judge at the administrative court there. After he had already been seconded to the Higher Administrative Court of Rhineland-Palatinate for a period of six months, he was appointed judge at the Higher Administrative Court in 1977.

On April 1, 1987, Dawin was appointed judge at the Federal Administrative Court. Here he was initially assigned to the 9th Revision Senate , which was responsible for asylum law , the law on returnees and prisoners of war compensation , and the law of expellees. In 1998 he moved to the 2nd Audit Senate, which is responsible for public service law. In June 2000 he became deputy chairman of this senate. Since January 2002, he has also been a member of the specialist senate according to § 189 VwGO .

In November 2002 Dawin was appointed honorary professor at the University of Potsdam . The Brandenburg State Parliament elected him in 2004 as judge at the constitutional court of Brandenburg . He was a member of this court until he reached the age limit in 2011, since January 2009 as its vice-president.

On September 1, 2007, Michael Dawin retired as a judge at the Federal Administrative Court.

Dawin has been married since 1968 and has two daughters.
