Michael Dietzsch

Michael Dietzsch (born May 18, 1940 ) is a German entrepreneur. He is a member of the shareholders' committee of Bitburger Holding and was chairman of the board of the Bitburger Getränke Verwaltungsgesellschaft for many years. From 1993 to 1999 he was President of the German Brewers Association .

Life

Dietzsch has a doctorate in economics; through his marriage to Christa Simon, a daughter of Hanns Simon , he became a member of the operating family of the Bitburger brewery , where he was employed in 1971. Together with his cousins Axel Th. Simon and Tomasz Niewodniczański , he took over the management of the Bitburger brewery in 1975 and was responsible for the marketing and sales department. He was also on the advisory board of Gerolsteiner Brunnen GmbH & Co. KG for more than 25 years , including seven years as chairman.

In 1999 Dietzsch moved from brewery to holding company and, as chairman of the management company, played a key role in determining the company's strategic direction. In 2004 he handed over the management of Bitburger Holding to Axel Th. Simon.

Dietzsch has two daughters and two grandchildren.

Honors and honorary positions

  • Member of the university board of trustees and chairman of the Friends of Trier University, where he is an honorary senator.

  • In 1999 he was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit 1st Class of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany for his services to business, science and society
