Michael Elber

Michael Elber (born October 6, 1957 ) is a Swiss theater director for theaters with people with intellectual disabilities . He is the founder and artistic director of the HORA theater .

Life

Elber obtained his teaching diploma in 1978 and then worked as a teacher .

From 1981 to 1987 he toured Switzerland and Italy with various street theater productions .

In 1989, Elber began working with people with intellectual disabilities and realized his first theater project with mentally disabled residents, which was performed on a small scale for parents and friends. This gave rise to the idea of ​​a theater culture workshop for people with intellectual disabilities.

In 1992 Elber gave the theater the name HORA and on January 15, 1993, the premiere of the first play "But time is life and life lives in the heart", loosely based on Michael Ende's " Momo ".

33 productions have been made in the HORA theater since 1993. Elber resulted in 17 productions directed and was with the other co-director, production manager and dramaturge operates.

In 1998, the HORA Theater was awarded the ZFV Social and Culture Prize, endowed with CHF 100,000 .
