Michael Ernst (theologian)

Michael Ernst (* 1947 in Mainz ) is a German theologian .

Life

From 1967 to 1975 he studied theology in Salzburg , where he received the title Magister Theologiae on January 27, 1972 and on June 12, 1975 Dr. theol. acquired. On January 9, 1987, he was granted the license to teach New Testament Biblical Studies. From 1972 until his retirement on October 1, 2012, he taught New Testament biblical studies in various positions at the University of Salzburg. Since 2002 he has been teaching theology of the New Testament at Heiligenkreuz University as a professor .

His academic focus is the socio-historical interpretation of the Bible and language, literature and everyday texts from the time of the New Testament.
