Waldemar Hummer

Waldemar Hummer (born July 3, 1942 in Steyr ) is an Austrian lawyer and former professor at the University of Innsbruck .

Life

After graduating from high school, Hummer studied law at the University of Vienna from 1960 . After graduating there, he received his doctorate in 1964 in Vienna. iur. He also obtained his doctorate in 1967 in Vienna. rer. pole. and in 1974 in Salzburg as Dr. phil. From 1967 to 1970 he worked as a legal advisor at the Argentine Embassy in Vienna before taking up a position as a university assistant at the Institute for International Law and International Relations at the University of Linz . There he completed his habilitation in 1978 and received the Venia legendi for the subjects of international law and European law. From then on he headed the department for European law and international development law at the aforementioned institute. From 1982 to 1984 Hummer held a chair at the University of Innsbruck . From 1984 he held the chair for international law, European law and international relations as a full professor, where he taught and researched until his retirement in 2010. During his time in Innsbruck he was, among other things, scientific director of the European Documentation Center and the Center for European Law.

Hummer researches and publishes primarily on European and other international law as well as international law. One focus is on South and Central American law.
