Michael Schweitzer

Michael Schweitzer (born June 8, 1943 in Vienna ) is an Austrian legal scholar .

Life

After his Matura at the humanistic high school Stella Matutina in Feldkirch , Schweitzer studied from 1962 to 1967 in Vienna and England and was awarded a Dr. jur. PhD . On December 4, 1974 , he completed his habilitation in the subjects of international law , European law and constitutional law .

From September 1980 Schweitzer held the chair for constitutional and administrative law, international law and European law at the University of Passau . In 1987 Rudolf Streinz completed his habilitation with him . Schweitzer retired on September 30, 2008. The chair was taken over by Christoph Herrmann, who had completed his habilitation with Rudolf Streinz.

Schweitzer is married and has two children. He has been a member of the Catholic student association KaV Norica Wien in the ÖCV since 1962 .

In 2010 he received the Federal Cross of Merit on ribbon .
